How to Turn Your Excel Price List into an Online Product Catalog
You already have the hard part: a list of your products. A few column rules turn that sheet into a searchable website.
Why Import Instead of Typing
Typing 300 products one by one takes days and creates typos. Importing a sheet takes minutes, and the same file becomes your master list for future updates.
Prepare the Sheet
- One row per product. No merged cells, no blank rows between items.
- Names in both languages. Keep an English name column and an Arabic name column.
- A category for every row. Use a parent and child form such as
Pumps > Submersiblefor sub-categories. - Clear price handling. Fill a price only where you want it shown; leave it empty for "on request".
- Short descriptions. Put long technical detail in the specifications, not in the name.
Check Before You Publish
The safest import checks the whole file first and saves nothing if any row has a problem, so you never end up with half a catalog. When a row fails, you should see which row and which column to fix. Imported products are best saved as drafts, so you can review them and add photos before they go public.
Common Mistakes
- Prices typed with text such as "EGP 1,200" instead of a number.
- The same category spelled two ways, which creates duplicates.
- Arabic text saved in the wrong file encoding. Save CSV files as UTF-8.
- Duplicate product names with no way to tell them apart.
After the Import
- Add photos, starting with your best-selling items.
- Fill in specification tables for the products buyers compare most.
- Publish in batches and preview on your phone.
- Share your link and a QR code on brochures, vehicles and booth banners.
Katalogna includes a ready-made import template in English and Arabic, checks your file before saving, creates categories from your sheet and saves products as drafts for review.

- How large can the file be?
- Katalogna accepts Excel and CSV files of up to 1,000 rows and 5 MB per upload. Larger catalogs can be split into several files.
- Can I import photos from Excel?
- Photos are uploaded separately in the panel, from a phone or computer, after the products are imported.
- Will a mistake in one row ruin the import?
- The file is checked before anything is saved. If a row has an error, you get a list of the rows to fix and nothing is imported until the sheet is clean.
